The AAS2021 received a wide variety of high quality proposals during the call for panels, labs and papers. The conference will include 4 labs, 6 roundtables, and 17 panels where 122 papers will be presented. There will also be 2 workshops for early career researchers organised by ANSA and the ANSA visual anthropology showcase. In addition, a number of exciting films will be accessible to conference attendees throughout the duration of the conference. At the heart of the conference are three keynote plenary discussions with First Nation scholars and activists. This year’s AAS Distinguished Lecture will be delivered by Professor Aileen Moreton-Robinson.
The conference will take place from 24 November to 1 December. It will be a fully online conference, taking place in Whova, the award winning browser-based web app that integrates Zoom. The panel timetable will be published at the end of October - we apologise for the delay, but we are trying to help some panels with difficult timing constraints and participant role clashes to find optimal solutions and that takes time.
As the conference fees are substantially discounted for AAS members (even with membership included), we strongly advise also becoming an AAS member, if you are not one already. Read about the AAS membership, benefits, fees and how to join on the association's webpage.
All attending the conference must register in advance. This does not necessitate paying at that time; registrations are manually checked and an invoice emailed to delegates - you then have fifteen days to pay.
Early-bird Registration is now open; lazy-bird registration will open on 25 October. Registration gives you access to all the virtual labs, roundtables, panels, workshops, plenaries, keynotes and meetings.
Early-bird rates are available until 25 October.
Concession AAS Member: 80 AUD
Concession: 130 AUD

If you cancel your registration by notifying us by email more than three weeks in advance we will be able to refund your registration fee, less a small amount to cover our administrative and finance costs. Cancellations made within three weeks of the event will not be eligible for such a refund, due to the costs already incurred. Refunds at that point will be discretionary.
